About ThreadLookup
ThreadLookup is a free tool for embroiderers who need to swap a thread number from one brand to another. Maybe a design calls for Isacord but your shelves are full of Marathon or Gunold, or a customer has sent over a HEX value from their logo. Pick the brand, click the color, and you get the closest equivalents.
Data sources and accuracy
- Thread colors come from the brand palettes distributed with the open-source embroidery software Ink/Stitch (GPL-3.0). Each palette holds the manufacturer's screen RGB values.
- Matches are computed in CIELAB with the CIEDE2000 color-difference formula and may differ from the manufacturers' official conversion charts.
- Monitors, thread sheen, weight and dye lots all change how a color looks. Always confirm with a physical thread color card.
